START!

In the famous words of Michael Jackson, "You Gotta Be Starting Somethin'... I Said You Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"!
The first thing I had to do to start my new life was START! But start what and where? I realized all of my internal issues were seeds planted by others as well as myself over the years. Negative thoughts and feelings rooted over and over again in a routine fashion. I was beginning to understand that our habits create the condition of our heart and the routines we put in place set the tone of our entire life.
At this stage of my life, my routines were getting me nowhere FAST!
Albert Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result”
Welp, your girl was low key insane because I was definitely doing the same thing over, and over again. THEN I would have the nerve to be pissed that my life was not moving in a different direction. I seriously needed answers as to why things were not improving.
I asked myself one simple question…
What have you implemented into your life today that is any different from what you were doing yesterday?
- Answer: Nothing
This had to change, and in order for me to grow I had to implement different patterns and habits immediately. This was NOT easy to do. But what made this process a bit simpler, was adding something new to my routine (no matter how small) each day.
The first step I took was ‘journaling’. This helped to release emotions instead of keeping the hurt bottled up inside. It also helped me to clearly understand what areas of my life needed improvement. Afterwards, I was able to put new routines in place to help me work towards improving.
For example, I had become self-conscious regarding my looks due to lack of exercise. During the journaling process as I wrote out my feelings, I began noticing that a lot of my feelings touched on lack of self-esteem. By writing out my feelings and making them plain, I was then able to ask myself “Ketra, why do you feel self-conscious and what do you need to do to heal from this?”
My answers to this question seemed simple: “I need to eat better and exercise”… However, the initiative to START was all on me!
“You don’t have to be GREAT to start, but you have to START to be GREAT!”- Zig Ziglar
Take time to ask yourself the following:
What is my daily routine?
What could I add/do to enhance my routine?
What areas of my life would I like to see the immediate improvement?
AND VOW THAT...
Today I will ‘START AGAIN’ by incorporating (blank) into my routine!
The point is, JUST START SIS!!! Greatness will soon follow.
